Below the Surface: Climate Change & The Snake River, a Creature Conserve Mentorship project, by Ava Reynolds

Spanning parts of Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, and containing several national parks, national forests, and wildlife refuges, the Greater Yellow- stone Ecosystem is vital to biodiversity and conservation and is already experiencing the effects of climate change. Water quality in the Snake River headwaters region is specifically important for the human and wildlife populations in this ecosystem and throughout the watershed. Ava’s project, a body of original prints, examines research topics like aquifer vulnerability, rising temperatures, and shifting precipitation patterns on water quality in this region, and the impact this has on local communities and wildlife. This presentation will showcase the prints created from the research topics through an educational lens, and demonstrate how this work can be utilized to inspire climate action within the viewer. This project aims to establish a framework for future fine art projects that center on climate research and advocacy.
