My work is a partnership with the land. Immersing in Her color, absorbing inspiration, taking communion. A painting begins with a foray to collect rocks, soot and bone. Each pigment alone a portrayal of beauty, combined in a painting, becomes a whole reflection of the very soul of the Ozarks.

Madison Woods’ painting, Destination Unknown, was included in Re-Imagining Conservation: From the Ground Up, at Swale House on Governors Island, New York in 2023.

Madison Woods is an artist from Kingston, Arkansas (USA) who uses handmade oil and watercolor paints. Her pigments are locally foraged, with the exception of blue and white. Nature is her inspiration, from conception to creation.
