For her mentee project, Sefi worked on a nature journal picture book based on the city of Mumbai called "Drawing to See." Her aim with the book was to make more people aware of the concept of nature journaling and use it as a way to see and connect with nature. The book features various prompts and techniques for nature journaling, with hand-drawn illustrations of urban flora and fauna. These prompts include Color Swatches, Filling Frames, Using Numbers and Measurements, Event Storyboard, and Event Storyboard.

"Drawing to See" can serve as a resource to teach nature journaling and to spark curiosity and wonder among kids and adults alike."

For her scholarship project, Sefi explored various techniques for creating jigsaw puzzles featuring some of the biodiversity found in central India, including its forests and mangroves. Her flamingo puzzle has 96 pieces!


SEFI GEORGE is an illustrator based in Mumbai, India with an academic background in sociology and anthropology as well as training in children's book and natural history illustration. She is an avid nature journal-er and is passionate about human-wildlife interactions.
