CLOSED: MENTORSHIP WORKSHOP
CLOSED: MENTORSHIP WORKSHOP
DATES: Sunday August 4, 2024 and Sunday August 11, 2024
TIME: 10 AM ET to 2 PM EST
INSTRUCTOR: Derek Russell, Mentorship Director
The Creature Conserve Mentorship Workshop is designed to catalyze the collaborative process that anchors our Mentorship Program. We seek to fill the gaps and draw new outlines for how we conduct informed artmaking. Through a series of case studies during an intensive two-part workshop, participants will design and develop artistic responses in groups with the support of Mentors and leading experts who work in wildlife conservation. This is a stand-alone Workshop open to any artist, writer, or scientist, regardless of their intent to join our Mentorship Program. The workshop will be conducted online via Zoom.
The discourse of artist and scientist collaboration is intersectional, interpersonal, and as of now - incomplete. Our program is inspired by the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation’s project ‘Schools of Departure’, a digital atlas of global pedagogy that “[explores] the different schools and learning collectives in constant exchange through their oscillation between disciplines and cultures.”
This Workshop serves as the beginning of our 2024 - 2025 Mentorship season. After completing the workshop, prospective mentees will be invited to join the program. Questions? See our Mentorship Q&A here.
